OPERATION OVERLORD

Almost 80 years later, this battle remains the largest logistical landing operation in history,

with three million soldiers, originating principally from the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand,

and also other allied nations from France (Free French Forces), Poland, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Holland and Norway,

crossing the Channel in order to land in Normandy, over 150 000 troops landed on D-Day alone.
